What Size Torqes Is on Pro Slots Slot Car Motor
Welllllll, since you asked.
But it was prepared by a better mind than mine . . . . . dont' t say it . . . .no . .no, I said don't say it . . . .
This is data from Robert Livingston. For those of you who don't know him or his SlotCar News thing, he is a real guru on motor data and a tech brain in the RAA. Wet Coast Racer could give you more detail about him. It is just RPM calculations. There's some data somewhere with torque numbers, or you could just look on the Professor Motor site, they have a lot of manufacturors (sic marketer's) RPM and torque specs on motors there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Given the interest in basic motor specifications for people wishing to build cars, write rules, create slot car classes, and just look at data, Slot Car News presents this updated list of every motor we could find as of February 9, 2007. We will be updating this list with new test results, and new motors.
Motors are listed alphabetically by name of importer or distributor, not the actual manufacturer. Most motors are made by Mabuchi (Fly, Ninco, Scalextric); Sun (Carrera, Slot. It), or others. Vintage motors are in a sub-category under "V", at the end of the list.
To distinguish similar types, the color of the motor case, label, or endbell is reported in quotes; for example, â€Å"redâ€Â.
Generic designation is based on Mabuchi designations, in parentheses:
(FC-130) is the standard slot car motor, sometimes called Mabuchi or S type.
(FK-130) is the Fox type.
(FK-180) is the Boxer or long can type.
(FF) is the slim, long can F1 type
Motors of the same type can usually be interchanged in their specific chassis brackets, although the shaft lengths may not be the same.
RPM ratings are no-load at voltage, as reported by the manufacturer or distributor. â€Å"Est.†means â€Å"estimatedâ€Â. â€Å"Tested†means at least one sample was tested with a non-contact tachometer for RPM at the listed voltage, under no load. If a range is given, two or more motors were tested.
Torque is reported as â€Å"gcm†(gram centimeters) at voltage. These are manufacturer’s data; no tests of torque have yet been done.
[RPM/voltage, or gcm/voltage, extrapolated from RPM or torque at another voltage, is reported in brackets]
For purposes of comparison, a motor's RPM at no-load can be multiplied by its torque, to obtain a number which represents the motor's maximum power, which is near the mid-range of the RPM, under load at that voltage. The RPM and torque must be at the same voltage.
